…. Newark International Airport, New Jersey!
According to the ever reliable airlineroute.com, the service will commence on 1st March 2014 (from Hong Kong)/2nd March 2014 (from Newark)
The timetable looks like this:
CX890 DEPART HKG 17:00 ARRIVE EWR 21:00 CX899 DEPART EWR 01:50 ARRIVE HKG 05:40+1 Commences 1st March (HKG) / 2nd March (EWR) Operates Daily Booked Equipment: Boeing 777-300ER
A note of caution for wanting the full bells and whistles – this will be a 3 Class service, comprising of:
– Business Class
– Premium Economy
– Economy
In other words – no First Class.
The route is now open for booking, however it is subject to government approval.
By doing this, Cathay have added extra capacity to the New York and New Jersey combinations without the pain of funding another long haul slot at JFK. The lack of First Class is slightly disappointing – although all Cathy will be up against is United Airlines which has a 3 class product (2 if you count economy plus as an extra space product only).
Another nice addition across the Pacific Ocean.

Yay, finally no more going to JFK
