Low cost Carrier has actually taken a step forward with its plans for low-cost transatlantic flying again it seems with the announcement that the Ryanair board of directors have approved a plan for growth – to include transatlantic growth according to the Irish Times.

With an intention to start services within five years, there’s an awful lot of legwork to be done to get this in the air – both in terms of where to serve from (and knowing Ryanair – the aim will be to use secondary airports such as Colonge, Stansted, Dublin as opposed to primary airports), as well as what aircraft to use on this route.
Lots of questions, and minimal answers at this point.
If Norwegian Air Shuttle caused a stink with the launch of its long haul services – one can only image what Airlines for America will say if Ryanair launches this.
And that’s still a big if.
Plans have been swirling since 2008 for Ryanair to start a long haul service, with little actual action until now.
But when Ryanair puts its mind to something, anything is possible. This could be one to watch if Ryanair actually follows through…
