Emirates add Edinburgh to its network

09/05/2018 by Kevincm

Another day, another network boost – with Emirates to add Edinburgh to its world-wide network.

Emirates Boeing 777-300ER - Dublin Airport

This will be Emirates second destination in Scotland – with the airline currently operating services to Glasgow.

EK024 DEPART EDI 20:15 ARRIVE DXB 06:40+1

Commences 1st October 2018
Operates Daily
Booked Equipment: Emirates Boeing 777-300ER (three class configuration)

Emirates will use a three-class Boeing 777-300ER on the route, configured with 8  First Class suites, 42 Business Class lie-flat seats and 304 Economy class seats.

The return timings to Dubai will meet the early morning bank of departures, connecting to the Emirates and flyDubai networks

On the launch, Hubert Frach, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, West. states:

“We’re increasing our capacity to Scotland to meet growing demand, and by introducing a daily flight to Edinburgh, it will complement our current double daily flights between Dubai and Glasgow. Edinburgh is a very popular leisure and business destination, and the new service will offer our customers from across our global network, particularly from key inbound markets such as Asia and Australia, a direct option to the city via our Dubai hub,”

Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive of Edinburgh Airport is happy with the route, stating:

“This service will cater for leisure and business passengers, providing daily links for international tourism and trade opportunities both inbound and outbound. We look forward to working with Emirates to provide a top class service for passengers and ensure the success of this Edinburgh to Dubai route”

Emirates will have competition on the route in the form of Qatar Airways (and in a form, Eithad Airways who are pulling their service on the 30th September- the day before Emirates spin up their service).

Hopefully, Emirates can make a better go of things than Etihad on connecting Edinburgh to the United Arab Emirates.
