British Airways updates amenities in World Traveller (Economy Class)

03/02/2020 by Kevincm

It seems that British Airways are trying to improve the passenger experience in its World Traveller Cabin (or what the rest of us would call Economy Class).

According to the airline, the new amenities will feature a white headrest cover, a new look bright blue cushion with a classic herringbone design and a new blanket in a super-soft fleece material.

The new items will be rolled out on all long haul flights offered by the airline, with the new products launching today from Heathrow Airport on long haul routes, whilst Gatwick passengers will have to wait until the 1st March 2020 for the new products to be loaded aboard the aircraft

The old grey/mushroom coloured blankets that are currently in service will be replaced and be donated to charities and projects in the UK and overseas.

Carolina Martinoli, British Airways’ Director of Customer Experience, said:

“We want our customers to be able to sit back and really relax on board, making the most of the comfortable new soft furnishings, the in-flight films and programmes and the four-course World Traveller menu.  Our aim is to deliver them to their destination feeling refreshed and feeling their trip is off to a great start. ”

Every little thing helps in the back of the aircraft

As British Airways continues to push the 10 across seating on its long haul Boeing 777 fleet as part of their cabin refresh, as well as dense 9 across seating on their 787 aircraft, it’s welcome to see little new features to make passengers lives more comfortable on the longer legs.

Whilst not an earth-shattering change to the product in World Traveller, the bright blues will brighten up the cabin.

Although how “Super-Soft” the fleece blanket is – that is another matter.

I haven’t been sent one of the new blankets to look at sadly (or doze off under), so that’s one claim that will have to be tested in due course…
