ANA slices summer 2021 operations

All Nippon Airways is trying to plan for 2021 – and it seems that both its network and fleet will take a hit over the summer.

The long-haul network is taking a major haircut, with 16 routes removed and three with route decreases (flight numbers listed which are not flying in the summer season).

  • Haneda – Los Angeles (NH126/125)
  • Narita – San Francisco
  • Haneda – San Jose
  • Narita – New York
  • Narita – Dusseldorf
  • Haneda – Stockholm
  • Haneda – Milan
  • Haneda – Istanbul
  • Haneda – Moscow
  • Haneda – Vladivostok
  • Haneda – Sydney (NH889/890)
  • Narita – Perth
  • Narita – Mumbai
  • Narita – Chennai
  • Haneda – Bangkok (N849/848, NH877/878)
  • Narita – Phnom Penh
  • Narita – Jakarta
  • Kansai – Hong Kong
  • Narita – Taipei

The domestic network is taking a cut too, with the following, due to being cut, or suspended

  • Narita – Itami (suspended)
  • Kansai – Memanbetsu (suspended)
  • Kansai – Fukuoka (suspended)
  • Haneda – Okayama (four flights a day)
  • Itami – Fukukoka (four flights a day)
  • Kansai – Sapporo (two-three flights a day)
  • Kansai – Okinawa (three flights a day)
  • Nagoya (Chubu) – Asahikawa (one trip a day, limited operation)
  • Shizuoka – Sapporo (one trip a day with limited operations)
  • Shizuoka – Okinawa (one trip a day, limited operation)
  • Okayama – Sapporo (one trip a day, limited operation)
  • Nagasaki – Okinawa (one trip a day, limited operation)

ANA is expecting to increase flights on certain domestic routes.

Onto the fleet

ANA is keeping with its plans to retire part its Boeing 777 aircraft fleet, with the airline planning to operate a greater number of long-haul flights will be operated with the Boeing 787 aircraft.

In October 2020, the airline outlined it was to retired 35 aircraft – with 22 of them being Boeing 777 models.

For now, the smaller 787 will take the place – until demand picks up again
