With the United Arab Emirates moving on the UK “Amber” List changing on Sunday 8th August, providing you meet certain vaccination status, you can bypass the need for the Day 8 COVID test and quarantine/isolation.

As a reminder, Amber List arrivals to the United Kingdom require different requirements depending on your vaccination status.

  • Vaticinated travellers require a pre-departure test, a passenger locator form completed and a Day 2 PCR test.
  • Unvaccinated/Partially Vaccinated travellers will require a pre-departure test, a passenger locator form completed and a Day 2 PCR test, as well as Self-Isolating for up to 10 days and a Day 8 test.

Note, that passengers who had their vaccine administered in the UK, US or Europe are exempt from quarantine and the day eight test. Passengers who have been vaccinated from other territories will need to go through additional isolation and testing.

Emirates has published a list of requirements for UK entry and travel – ensure you meet the correct ones when planning to travel travelling.

Adnan Kazim, Emirates Chief Commercial Officer said:

“Emirates welcomes the decision to add the UAE to the UK’s ‘amber list’ for international travel, reflecting the extensive steps that have been taken to mitigate the spread of the virus in the UK and UAE.

Since the UK’s announcement, we’ve seen a huge surge in queries from customers desperate to travel to see their families, planning their kids’ return for the new school term, as well as their postponed business or holiday travel. Emirates is reviewing our operations to various points in the UK and any service restart will be announced in the usual fashion.”
